What does a chicken, a robot and a spooky alien have in common? They were a few of the 400-plus colorful and creative sculptures featured at the elementary school’s annual Art Show.
Held on May 5 and 6, the show included at least one sculptural project from every student in grades kindergarten through six. Additional projects from nearly half of the students were also displayed, including 3D masks, drawings and paintings.
According to Garrett Omoto, fine arts teacher for the elementary campus, the goal of the art program is to inspire an appreciation for art in students, while emphasizing the investment of time and effort in their work. “There is at least one project at every grade level that gives students the opportunity to express personal and unique ideas,” said Omoto. “I try to make sure that by the end of the year, the appreciation and enjoyment of art have grown for most if not all students.”
