Boys Varsity & JV Basketball Teams Win ILH Championships
For the first time since winning back to back ILH Division II titles in 1995 and 1996, the HBA boys varsity basketball team can call itself champions. The team finished league play in first place overall (13-1, ILH) despite welcoming seven new players to the roster this year. The overall title is particularly significant as the “big” schools’ (Punahou, Kamehameha, Iolani, St. Louis) division II teams returned to the schedule after a year’s hiatus. Besides HBA, all others teams finished with 2 or more losses in league play. The team admirably fought through several players’ injuries and illnesses throughout the season, which concluded with losses to Roosevelt High and eventual state champion Kailua High in the HHSAA Division II State Championship Tournament March 5th and 6th at Kalani High School.

Pac-5 also won the inaugural division II title in 2007.

Summer Sports in Gym On Hold
HBA is planning to replace the bleachers and the lights in the gym this upcoming summer. As such, everything usually scheduled in the gym will either be reduced or eliminated for this summer only. These include summer volleyball and basketball practices, the intermediate basketball summer league, the annual HBA Eagle Hoop Camp and the annual HBA Volleyball Skills Clinic (However, most of our sport teams will continue to participate in leagues hosted by other ILH schools). The bleacher and light projects will have to be done separately and may total up to eight weeks in length. If the down time is shorter than expected and we are able to host any activities, we will disseminate the information as soon as it becomes available.
12th Annual HBA Athletic Booster Club Golf Tourney at Mid-Pac Country Club

The tournament has sold out eight of the past nine years so sign up as soon as possible!* Many groups were turned away last year.
*Applications will be posted at www.hba.net in the coming weeks. All of the spring sports schedules and latest athletics news are also posted on our award-winning website. Once on the site’s homepage, you need to click on “Student Life”, then scroll down to “Athletics”.
