Congratulations to Erin Fukushima, Stacie Nomura, and Jessica Shimada for placing first among 29 local high schools in the Japan Wizards Competition sponsored by the Japan-American Society of Hawaii. The competition included questions on many aspects; e.g., modern Japan, government, geography, politics, history, literature, sports, foods, and awards. The three seniors, along with their coach Mrs. Yuriko Tcheou, were awarded a trip to Japan this summer to get a look at its high-tech industries. A highlight of the tour will be a visit to the underground reservoir in Tokyo that processes drinking water for its population of over eight million people.
