The
Eagle Eye took top honors at this year’s Hawaii Publishers Association’s Hawaii State High School Journalism Awards. Entries were compared based on writing style, content, and the overall look of the paper.
Under the leadership of senior and Editor-In-Chief Joshua Shon, the Eagle Eye earned a best in state award in Photography and district awards for News Writing and Layout and Design. Shon said, “We always worked our hardest to put out the best paper possible. The win was especially significant because our staff was able to overcome their lack of experience to produce a quality paper.” This year, every writer, including the editor was new to the
Eagle Eye staff.
Publication staffs from 22 public and private high school newspapers attended the annual awards luncheon held at the Pagoda Hotel April 22.
