Eighth-grader
Collin Young has been selected as one of the 12 winners island-wide for the Lex Brody “Thank you very much” contest, a contest designed to acknowledge the importance of others. Collin was honored at a surprise assembly on Monday, February 23 at the middle school MPR. The assembly, hosted by Tiny Tadani, will be aired on Tiny TV on OC16 (date TBA).
The following is a breakdown of the prize:
$800 hotel package for Collin’s father (the recipient of the letter) at the Princess Kaiulani hotel.
$100 GC to Ala Moana for Collin
$250 for the charity of Collin’s choice: Ho‘opono (an outreach for the vision-impaired)
$250 for Collin’s class
$250 Lex Brody Gift Certificate for Collin's teacher, Debra Tenney
All this, plus a KSSK live-radio breakfast at the Hanohano Room on Saturday, Feb. 28! Collin’s letter will also be featured in a full-page Midweek article this month.
In case you do not know, Collin’s father is legally blind, and the letter Collin wrote to him was to honor him for the ways his father has taught him to see things beyond the visible. A beautiful tribute, worthy of such recognition.
