HBA is a member of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) and offers a wide range of sports. Boys and girls in grades 7-12 compete on HBA teams for basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf, bowling, cross country, cheerleading, and track and field. For other sports, they compete on PAC-5 teams, joining students from other private schools. Elementary students in grades 5-6 have opportunities to play on volleyball and basketball teams that compete against other private schools in the Christian Schools Athletic League (CSAL).
HBA is widely regarded as having one of the top small school athletic programs in the ILH and state. For the seventh consecutive year - and eighth time in nine years - HBA has won the HMSA Kaimana Award for ILH Division II schools. The award recognizes schools for excellence in athletics, sportsmanship, academics and community service. HBA is the only ILH school in either division to be honored all nine years of the award (1st in '06, '08, '09, '10, '11, '12, '13, '14 and 2nd in '07).
Close to 75 percent of the middle-high school students annually compete in interscholastic sports, with approximately 40 percent of them participating in multiple sports.
