Fourth Graders Fly to Maui

HBA's fourth graders flew to Maui during the first week of March to study Hawaii's history firsthand. The students visited the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum, the Bailey House and the Whaler's Village Museum. They also visited the Iao Valley Needle, the Hawaii Nature Center, Lahaina, the Maui Ocean Center and enjoyed a spectacular performance by 'Ulalena.

HBA Wins Bronze at Best of the West Invitational

The HBA boys varsity volleyball team took its game to the prestigious Best of the West Invitational March 13-14 in Poway, California. The tournament, widely considered the top boys volleyball tournament in the country, was held at four different sites – Alliant International University, Epic Volleyball Club, Poway High and Westview High.

Junior Walks 100 Laps for Relay for Life

Her plan was to walk 50 laps around the track to raise funds for cancer research, instead she doubled up and finished with 100 laps. Early Sunday morning, just before 6 a.m., Junior Michelle Chan completed her 25 mile trek in 13 hours at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletic Complex at the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Relay for Life.

HBA Wins ILH Boys Basketball Title

The HBA boys varsity basketball team can once again call itself the ILH Champions. HBA defeated Hanalani 61-55 at the Royals home gym on February 12 to complete their ILH Division 2 regular season with a 10-2 league record (17-7 overall), laying claim to their first title since 2009 and just fourth since 1987 (HBA won consecutive ILH boys titles in 1995 and 1996).

Kindergarteners Remind Seniors of God's Love

The kindergarten class celebrated Valentine's Day with their senior buddies at Malulani Hale on Tuesday. The students sang songs, recited scripture and gave handmade cards to each of their buddies. In following with the theme of Valentine's Day, Lisa Lichtenberg, kindergarten teacher, told the seniors that the students are reminders of God's love for them.

Science Olympiad Teams Win 2nd and 3rd at Regionals

A group of freshmen showed their love for their seventh grade classmates Monday morning, by leaving Valentine-themed candies with Bible verses on their lockers and giving away homemade cookies.
