1.   FROM THE VICE-PRINCIPAL (Mr. Namba):

a.    *If you misplaced/lost a digital video camera last month, please come to my office and claim it by Fri., May 23.

b.    *Reminder: Normal school dress code remains in effect throughout the senior exam and final exam periods.  Students who are not in dress code may be sent home and could receive an incomplete grade for their class.

2.    Congratulations to the Interact Club for winning the first place Scrapbook award at this year's state Interact Convention.  Kudos to our club historian for her creativity and outstanding job.  {Mrs. Goya}

3.    Thank you to everyone who purchased sweet treats from the Modern World History Bake Sales. In conjunction with the contemporary problems projects the students just finished, the money they raised will go to Save the Children, Save Japan Dolphins, Heifer International, and the Project Red Foundation.  To learn more about the work of these non-profits, please visit their websites or see Ms. Buchik for more information.

4.    *TO ALL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS: Please do not throw away any of your English, AP, or SAT Prep books.  Donate them to a young entrepreneur, Elnura Adylova, who is opening an English library in Kyrgyzstan.  Bring your books to Room C-2 or the Senior Area to put into the collection boxes. Thank you very much.
Mrs. Schoolland

5.    *All Spring Sport Athletes:  If your season has been completed, please launder and return your uniform to the athletic office as soon as possible.  Thanks, Mr. Oshiro.

6.    *Summer School Students: Student parking will be available during Summer School at the Dan Kong Campus (middle school) for a fee of $30 for three weeks or $40 for four weeks.  Pick up forms at the middle school office before the end of school.  No passes, no parking!  Mrs. Shirley Yahata, Director of Supplemental Programs

7.    *As you clean out your locker next week, please recycle your paper.  Look for the recycle boxes in classrooms.  The NHS will have one final recycling pick up Thursday, May 29.  {Mrs. Nakano}

GRADES 9-11:

1.    FROM CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES (Mrs. Gruspe):

a.    "Something More" is coming this summer.  If you have questions about God or being a Christian or if you want to dive into his Word and see how it applies to you then check "Something More" out.  It will be every Tuesday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm during the summer school session.  Snacks will be provided so come with a hunger for food as well as a hunger for more of God.

b.    Also coming this summer is the Summer Olympics.  HBA students (and your friends) will be competing against church youth groups in competitions such as basketball, ping pong, video games, messy games and so much more.  It's going to be a blast.  After each evening of competition there will be an awesome time of worship and snacks.  The summer Olympics will be on Thursdays, beginning on June 12th and will be held at Kalihi Union Church.  Flyers will be available soon.  If you would like to help with set-up or clean-up, please let Mr. Lockridge or Mrs. Gruspe know.

c.    Servant Group:  We will be holding a Cross-Training Camp during the summer for servant group members.  This camp will be limited to 30 students.  Location:  Camp Timberline from July 14th-16th (Mon-Wed).  If you are interested please pick up a registration from Mr. Lockridge.

d.    Servant Group applications for the 2008-2009 school year are due this Friday.

2.    *All 9th to 11th grade boys and girls interested in turning out for the bowling team next year:  Please sign up with Mrs. Hayashi in the library.   Bowling practice starts in June.  {Mr. Hayashi}

3.    *You are responsible to turn in all your rental textbooks no later than your final exam dates.  Be sure to follow your teachers’ instructions on how to turn in your books.  Turn in all late books to the library not to your teacher.  A lost book fee will be assessed if your book is not returned. Damaged books are subject to fee.  A letter about the lost or damaged books will be sent home to your parents.  {Mrs. Hirae}

GRADE 11: Juniors - Please remember to call Ace Portrait Studios for your senior photo ASAP.  So far, only 25% of you have signed up.  Getting the appointment time you desire will be difficult if you wait too long.  Do not incur a late fee!  {Mr. Honzaki}
