9th-12th GRADES:1.
FROM MR. NAMBA, Vice Principal:a.
For all high school students, the weightroom is open for general student use every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. If you would like instruction on working out with weights, please let Mr. Namba know and he'll be happy to help you come up with a personal program that fits your needs. On occasion, Mr. Namba will not be able to open the weightroom per this schedule. If you would like to be alerted about weightroom schedule changes and don't mind receiving text messages, let him know and he'll add you to his student list to receive these notices ahead of time.
b.
The HBA "huddle" for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets every Monday during lunch period in Mr. Namba's office. The mission of FCA at HBA is to develop servant leaders who are involved or interested in HBA athletics according to the charge given by Jesus to his disciples in Matthew 5:13-16. We believe that HBA athletics is the most visible part of the school to the community and provides special opportunities for students to be "salt and light" to those the Lord places around us. Please feel free to join us at our FCA meetings.

WELCOME BACK, INTERACTORS!!! There will be a meeting this Thursday, Aug. 19, at the start of lunch, in Room C-102 for all Interact members and anyone interested in joining this family of community servers, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ala Moana. Bring your lunch and let's i-n-t-e-r-a-c-t! {Mrs. Goya}
11th GRADE: Those juniors who have a junior independent period need to report to Mrs. Uyehara at the beginning of your period for attendance purposes. In the event of a fire or evacuation, we need to have an accurate attendance count for all students. Thank you for your cooperation! {Mr. Namba}
12th GRADE: Those seniors who have senior independent period during A and B periods need to be aware of this announcement!
On those days where we have extended periods and there is no homeroom preceding your senior independent period, please know that Mrs. Watanabe or Ms. Oda will be coming to the senior area in the first 10 minutes of the period to take attendance.
After taking attendance in the senior area, they will contact the security guards to see if any seniors have already left campus OR have decided the day before to come to school late. In either of those cases, these seniors should have left their ID cards with security and we will count these seniors as being present but off-campus.
Any other seniors will then be counted as being absent and may be issued demerits if this is an unexcused absence.
Please be sure that you are present in the senior area for attendance before going anywhere else during your senior independent period, such as to the learning center or tech lab.
We need to do this because there are no homerooms on those days and, in the event of a fire or evacuation, we need to have an accurate attendance count of all students. {Mr. Namba}
