9th-12th Grades

1.    All Students:  If you’re interested in going out for a spring sport all information regarding try outs and coaches' contacts is posted on the athletics page of the HBA website. There are hard copies available at the athletic office. Please also sign up if you intend to try out. 7th-8th graders should sign up with Mrs. Matsushima at the Middle School...and 9th-12th graders should sign up at the Athletic Office near the gym. 2.    All Winter Sport Athletes: Once your season is finished, please launder and return your school or Pac-5 issued uniform. T-shirts and swim suits are consumable and yours to keep. Everything else needs to be returned. Please return your uniform in a zip lock bag - or other bag - and be sure that it's labeled with your name. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro

3.    From Christian Ministries:
a.    Servant Group Meeting on Friday, during lunch in the gym.
b.    *(9th-12th): Christian Ministries will be sponsoring a contest for a CEW T-shirt design. The theme for CEW 2012 is “For His glory” and the scripture verse is “For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:36 (NIV). Designs must include the theme and the verse. If possible, please submit your design in digital format. You may use up to 3 ink colors. Designs must be submitted by January 31st. Winner will receive a free shirt and a $20 gift card.

4.    Fellowship of Christian Athletes: Huddle gathering today, January 23, 2012 during HS Lunch period (12:25 pm to 1:00 pm) in the HBA athletic training room - ALL are welcome! Please join us!  {Mr. Lee}

5.    Bowling Club:
Students who signed up for the Bowling Club and others who want to be in the club, pick up the permission form from Mrs. Hayashi in the library. The Bowling Club will start on Tuesday, January 24th at Fort Shafter Bowling Center and will run every Tuesday until the end of the school year in May. Permission forms must be turned in before you start bowling with the club. You may join the Bowling Club any time during the semester, but must turn in the permission forms in order to bowl.  Bus transportation will be provided to Shafter ONLY on early release Tuesdays. Parents will need to pick you up from Shafter when bowling ends at 5:00 pm. {Mr. Hayashi}

6.    *Hiking Club. Attention all Hiking Club members! We will be leaving HBA at 9:30 am on Sat., Feb. 4 to Manoa Falls. We should be back to HBA by 12:30. Please come to Rm. 300B for your permission form.  {Mr. Honzaki}

7.    10th Grade: East Coast travelers, It’s time! The mandatory trip meeting for you and your parent(s) is this week Thursday, January 26th, from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Middle School MPR. We will be discussing the trip itinerary, expectations, and other important details.  {Mrs. Nakano}

8.    *Juniors and Seniors: Students requesting AP testing for courses they are not currently enrolled in should see me by January 20. Mahalo!  {Mrs. Goya}

9.    *Student Guests From China - Our visitors will be here through Wed., January 25, 2012. We also welcome Mr. Jieping Xiong, Director of Wuhan David Perry English Training Center and Mrs. Jiang Du, mother of Jiangyue Qiu.  {Mrs. Hirae}

Report Card Notice:
A current 2nd Quarter Report card is being posted on My BackPack.  Parents can view this by clicking on My Documents on the home page.  Students who had incomplete grades or are expecting grade changes can now see the changes on the 2nd Quarter Report Card.

Students who have either Honor Roll or Gold Club recognition will be receiving their certificates, coupons and bumper stickers (only awarded once during the year for a student who receives Honor Roll status) in homeroom, Monday January 23, 2012 or in the case with the middle school sent home in the homework folder.
