From the MS Principal, Mrs. Atta:
Just a few reminders…
  • Please remember to wipe your shoes before entering classrooms or the office.
  • There has been an increase in student visits to the office due to illnesses.  Here are a few important reminders from our teachers and school nurse to keep hydrated and be rested which will help everyone remain healthy and be better students:
    • Be sure to get at least 8 hours of rest a night. (Your behavior and patience will improve.)
    • DRINK lots of fluid throughout the day to stay hydrated. (1 oz. of water for every pound you weigh. --- 3 gulps at our water fountain equals to about an ounce.)
    • Wash hands thoroughly, before eating or after using the restroom.
    • Do not come to school if you are feeling ill, so that the illness is not spread to
  • MICROWAVES are available around campus for students to use.  It is a privilege to have this convenience, so please do not play with the microwaves or use them inappropriately. It is not only dangerous but we may not have funds to replace them if they are damaged.
ABC BeAttitude Focus:  Be Thoughtful
For February, we’ll focus on Be(ing) Thoughtful.  Showing thoughtfulness is:
  • Listening without interrupting.
  • Behaving appropriately in class.
  • Doing something unexpected for someone.
  • Thankful for the opportunities that come your way.
  • Appreciative for the gifts in time, presents or deeds that I receive.
  • Returning what I borrow in good condition.
  • Using courteous language.
Answer these questions:
  1. What makes me impatient and behave thoughtlessly with my family or friends?
  2. When do I think people are treating me without thought or consideration? How does that make me feel? What could I do to let them know how I feel?
  3. How does it benefit me to show thoughtfulness to others?
This Month’s Challenge:  Be Thoughtful
During February, turn in to the office a page to describe your experience. Write about ways you practiced the ABC YESS System. Describe the situation. What attitude did you chose and why? Describe your behavior. Did you behave differently than you normally do? Describe the results of your choices.  How did it impact your character and/or others around you? Includes any other thoughts to help describe your experience.

Remember the ABCs of the YESS System:
ABC BeAttitude
You choose your…Attitude.
You choose your…Behavior.
You reap the results in Celebration or Consequence.
Your Choices build your Character.

As part of the MS’s efforts to support our student’s transition to healthy independence and success the middle school has used the YESS System.  The system uses structure; relationship building and clear expectations. Students continue to develop their internal moral compass through self-direction and guided exploration during advisory periods and throughout their middle school experience at our Middle School.

Eagle Tally as part of the YESS System is a behavior correction tool designed to give immediate feedback to students and as a communication tool between parents and teachers. This tool is used to document the student’s daily academic and behavior conduct.  The students are weaned off the system by the end of 8th grade with diminishing external rewards.

From Grade 8 Health & Fitness Coach, Mr. Witsell:
Congratulations to Jared Dang for tying the middle school record for personal best in the 6min. run of 26 laps, which was only achieved by two eighth graders in the past two years. This achievement has sparked a lot of competition with in the eighth grade.  As a result the school record has now been broken!

A SUPER CONGRATULATIONS! to Matthew Johnson who now sits at the top holding a new school record, with a personal best of 27 and a 1/4 laps in 6min. This is an awesome demonstration of determination and will. We all need to  challenge our selves to reach our personal best!
