From the MS Principal, Mrs. Atta: Eagles, Job Well Done!Congratulations to Science Fair Middle School Representatives!- Michael Imai. Michael’s project is:
“Earthworms: Nature’s Disposal – A Study on How the Amount of Food Provided Affects the Reproduction Rate of Earthworms” Hypothesis: Earthworms which are provided with the most food will reproduce the fastest. - Jason Shon. Jason’s project is:
“Comparing Maglev Trains to Steel on Steel Trains” Hypothesis – A Maglev train will go farther than a regular train because of reduced friction.
Say a prayer of support as they go to the District competition and congratulate them on their hard work and diligence. Their ability to think logically and creatively as well as problem-solve using the scientific process, may lead one day to discover a breakthrough finding. A finding that may help each us to improve the quality and Thank you also goes to the parents of these students and their hard-working teacher advisors Mrs. Morihara and Mr. Hom. Announcements: - Student & Cash: We are concerned that students have been bringing large amounts of money from $40 to $400 to school. School lunch is generally $4 to $8 and if you include after-school snacks, perhaps $12. One common reason, the student will say why they are carrying large amounts of cash is to go some special place after school. Be it shopping or Dave and Busters. Either case, if you could please check and discuss with your child regarding the amount of money they chose to carry to school and decide on how to best handle it. Some families have open checking accounts for students or use cashier’s checks. The best solution is not to bring large amounts of cash at all.
- Care and Respect for Ourselves: Please continue to pick up your trash and remind your friends to do the same. We take care of ourselves, each other and this place.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
This Month’s Challenge: Be ThoughtfulDuring February, turn in to the office a page to describe your experience. Write about ways you practiced the ABC YESS System. Describe the situation. What attitude did you chose and why? Describe your behavior. Did you behave differently than you normally do? Describe the results of your choices. How did it impact your character and/or others around you? Includes any other thoughts to help describe your experience. Remember the ABCs of the YESS System: ABC BeAttitudeYou choose your… Attitude. You choose your… Behavior. You reap the results in Celebration or Consequence. Your Choices build your Character. From the MS Counselor, Ms. Okazaki: Registration DeadlineEIGHTH GRADERS – Bring your Registration Folder and Materials with you to school. I will be visiting guided study classes. Registration Folder and Materials must be submitted to myself NO LATER THAN 3 P.M. ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2009. It is strongly recommended that you turn the Folder in prior to the deadline so a quick check can be made by me. From Geography Teacher, Mrs. Yorita: Geography test for Feb. 10th, has been rescheduled to February 17th. From Admissions Director, Mrs. Lee: Foodland’s Shop for Higher Education Program will be starting on February 11, 2009 and continue through March 24, 2009. This program helps schools to earn college scholarships for high school seniors across the state. Be sure to designate HBA when shopping at Foodland to help our school earn Maika’i Points. HBA’s school code is 7521. Thank you for your support. From PTF, 7th Gr.
