Class of 2014 - 8th Grade Camp is finally here!We look forward to your Talent Show. Please read the camp information from Christian Ministries carefully. Attached are the HBA Camp Rules. As part of the privilege of camp attendance, students may dress in your Class Shirts with HBA uniform bottoms or jeans on Thursday. Your jeans ankle length and one color, no holes or frays nor should it be styled or designed (i.e. rivets, sequins, see through material etc.).
Class of 2015 – 7th Graders FLEX Program Registration 2010-11➢ Assembly: You will have an opportunity hear information regarding your FLEX classes for next year during Friday, April 9th Assembly (Advisory Period) in the MPR. A packet with a random number will be given to you on Monday. Please go home and discuss with your parents and return the form by Friday, April 30th at the end of the office hours 3:45 p.m. All registration forms received incomplete (no parent’s signature, alternative choices missing etc.) or after April 30th deadline will be scheduled last.
➢ Note to Parents: The Optional FLEX Program at Hawaii Baptist Academy provides middle school students with the opportunity to explore special interest areas and to improve study skills. All courses are Pass/Fail including World Language courses but each student will receive an A-F scale indicator grade in the report card comment field. Student performance will be graded on an A-F scale but not be factored into the grade point average (GPA). A grade of F in any FLEX courses will eliminate a student from all honor rolls. HBA Student Handbook rules, procedures and signed agreement apply. World Language and Band meet four times a week and is a year course.
Something New! Joint project with the Junior Class and the Middle Schoolers: Junior Service Learning Showcase on April 6 from 11:55-1:10.
➢ The Junior Class will be making formal presentations on their service learning project and the MS students will be scoring them with the oral presentation rubric, followed by lunch in small groups where the juniors will facilitate the MS students sharing about their service learning project.
This sharing venue for their service projects, provides time for reflection and evaluation was designed through the collaborative efforts of their high school teachers: Lynne Nakano, Kirsten Chong and middle school teachers: Diane Yorita and Traci Morihara. Thank you to all it’s an exciting initial event!
