Welcome to New and Returning Students!
We all look forward to a great year!
From the MS Principal, Mrs. Atta:➢
HBA Website: Weekly Bulletins and Resources for ParentsWeekly Bulletins are posted to Hawaii Baptist Academy website at
http://www.hba.net. Items needing your signature or attention will continue be sent home on Mondays (or Tuesdays if there is a holiday on Monday) in the
Monday Folder. A Weekly Bulletin is posted in all classrooms and reviewed by the homeroom/advisory teacher with their students. Access to the web is necessary to download a copy for viewing or printing from
http://www.hba.net/student_life/middle_school. It is located on the upper right of the webpage. If you find you need a hard copy, please place a request at the Front Office with Mrs. Matsushima at 595-6302. Once a request is received, a hard copy of the bulletin will be placed in your child’s Monday Folder thereafter.
The following additional items are on the website and a hard copy is provided to each student: monthly major assignments calendar for each grade level (hard copies are provided to the students) and monthly lunch menus

➢
Raincoat and/or umbrella: To purchase lunch menu items, please bring raingear and place it in your locker for use.
➢
Locker Responsibility: Lockers must be kept locked at all times. Some of you have your combination/key lock in a locked position but the locker door still can be opened. To avoid possible lost of personal items and textbooks, please be sure to secure your lockers and double check that the lock is latched tightly.
➢
Locker Violation: A student will be cited each time his or her locker is reported unlocked, and demerits will be issued as well as other consequences. If a student accumulates three locker citations in one quarter, he or she will not be allowed to use a locker for the remainder of the semester.
➢
Extra Lockers and Storage Available: Go to the Front Office for a form, your parents must sign a form. If your current locker is not sufficient to store all of your items, we offer two options:
- Sign Storage Agreement. No cost.
Storage Hours: Items must be brought to the storage by 7:25 a.m. daily and be picked up by 3:15 p.m. Items may NOT be left overnight. They will be taken to the lost and found in the Front Office. - Additional Locker Rental: $30 for the year.
These lockers are accessible at anytime during the school day and after-school to 6:00 p.m. Thereafter see the school security guard for permission to come on campus.
From Year Book Advisor, Mr. Honzaki:Middle Schoolers: Your yearbook photo session is scheduled for this Friday. You will be receiving your photo session packets in homeroom today. Please share this packet with your parents, fill it out completely, and bring it with you on Friday, even if you do not intend to order photos. If you wish to order photos, please enclose a check. Extra packets may be picked up at the Student Services Center, The Attendance Office, or room 300B. You will be called up to room M202 by a student monitor from your science class. Please do not come to M202 until you are called, and do not disturb students in the photo taking room.
[Note from Ms. Atta: You must be dressed in your school uniform for picture-taking.]
From Athletic Director, Mr. Oshiro:1. All Students: If you intend to tryout for a fall sport, please sign up in the athletic office or middle school front office. Fall sports are: football, girls volleyball, bowling, boys water polo, junior varsity tennis and kayaking (air riflery is underway). Please note the tryout information flyers posted around campus and in your classrooms. This information is also posted on the athletics page of the school website. Keep in mind that Student Health Record and Athletic Handbook Agreement forms need to be submitted prior to trying out. These should be turned in to the athletic office or athletic training room. However, you may turn them in to the middle school principal's office or front office and they will be forwarded to us. You or your parents may contact me in the athletic office if you have any questions. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro
2. All Students: If you are trying out for a fall sport that practices off campus, please check - daily - the following locations for athletics transportation information: Middle School - Bulletin board in snack bar, High School - Dry erase board outside athletic office. HBA provides one-way bus transportation for most sports on most "regular-schedule" school days. You and your parents will need to arrange your own transportation home. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro
3. All Students age 16 and Older: If you're interested in working as an ILH volleyball scorer or timer in the gym, please stop by the athletic office and ask for Coach Keith. We are looking for responsible, reliable, and conscientious workers for the upcoming ILH girls volleyball season. The pay is $10 per match. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro
4. All Students: Please welcome Mr. Sam Lee to the athletic department staff! Mr. Lee is an athletic trainer who will join with Miss Shannon Keen to help provide more medical coverage for all of you who participate in sports. Take some time to stop by the athletic training room to say "hello" to both of them. Thanks, Mr. Oshiro
