  • For safety, only nerf-like balls are to be used on the Dan Kong Campus at all times. Exceptions are with teacher supervision.
  • FLEX classes at the high school:  Walk “quietly” to your FLEX classes. If you are on the 3rd floor of the Bessie Fleming building, you are to walk to the stairs on the mauka end of the building. Keep the talking quiet as high school classes are still in-session.
  • Lunch Utensils:  Don’t forget your utensils and condiments for your home lunches. None are available at the middle school.
  • Keeping a clean and safe campus. This requires each student carrying their belongings or to store them in their lockers. Also, students in each homeroom will be asked to wipe tables and sweep several times a year during lunch periods as a service.
  • Lunch Duty Monitors: Students who have lunch duty may move to the front of the lunch line by showing their assignment tags However, lunch duty students may NOT buy lunch for others or allow others to use their tag.

From the MS Principal, Mrs. Atta:

Eagles, Job Well Done!
                                   to honor and glorify God…

Congratulations to the new middle school’s student leaders and thank you to the teacher advisors!

After School Dismissal Safety: ID Badges
For the safety and supervision of each middle schooler after school dismissal, parents were asked to arrange travel and care arrangements for campus departure. Codes have been placed on the student’s ID. All students will be required to wear their IDs from their entry to campus and their departure except for school activities (i.e. PE , Fine Arts, sports practice) that preclude the wearing of the ID safely.

A plastic name badge clip has been provided for the wearing of the IDs. The only acceptable locations will be clipped to the front collar of the polo shirt. If desired, lanyards may be used in place of the name badge clips. For safety reasons, only “breakaway” or “velcro” lanyards are allowed. Please return unused name badge clips to the Front Office. Lanyards should follow HBA dress code: no obscene implications etc.The codes are as follows:

  • L – Learning Center (HS library) 3:00 to 4:00 pm except on Tuesdays. After 4:00 pm, the student will leave for a parent-designated location off campus.  There is no adult supervision on the high school campus.
  • B - Travel home by school bus or city transportation.
  • O - Off campus 30 minutes after school dismissal.
  • C - Combo (Combination of choices-see Front Office for choices.)
  • X – Not enrolled in FLEX classes. Campus departure at the beginning of FLEX classes @ 2:15 pm.
  • E – Exception through approval by the principal or if student required learning activity is scheduled. Teacher will supervise student(s) and notify Front Office of exception.

IDs must be worn on the high school campus.

  • Visiting Elementary Campus unsupervised is considered trespassing. On all school days and especially during Tuesday Early Release (dismissal 1:45 p.m.) and Half Day schedules (dismissal 12:20 p.m.), if reports are received that a student is trespassing and they will receive demerit(s) with parent notification.
  • 1st Floor:  After school dismissal, no students should be on the 1st floor unless supervised by a teacher.
  • Safety and security of personal Items:  Students are required to carry their belongings or to store them in their lockers. No items are to be left on campus as they depart for practice/game sites. Demerits will be issued for insubordination. Extra lockers accessible after 3:30 pm are available for a $30 annual fee. See the Front Office.
  • MS Playcourts (MPC): Volleyball practice is conducted on specified days on a schedule located in the administration office. The playcourt is not opened to any other student after-school. No adult supervision is available.

Parent Information:
  • Visitor Sign-In: To promote safety for our students, HBA is continuing an all-school visitor sign-in and badge policy. If you need to be on campus during the school day, security will ask you to sign-in and wear a visitor’s badge during your time on campus. Please understand that this minor inconvenience is for the best interest of everyone and is meant to ensure safety for all our students and school personnel.
  • Phone messages: The Front Office will attempt to deliver personal phone messages to your child in the classroom only when it is an emergency. Otherwise, students will be called to the Front Office on the PA system during breaks in the school day to receive the messages.

From Front Office, Mrs. Matsushima:
PE uniforms have been distributed.  Please notify the office at 595-6302, if you have not received your order or if you are interested in purchasing additional uniforms.  Shirts are $7.00 and shorts are $8.50.  Exchanges may be made if uniform has NOT been worn.    Thank you.

From Athletic Director, Mr. Oshiro:
