HBA is excited to welcome Elton Kinoshita as its new High School Principal. Kinoshita began the onboarding and transition process at the end of November 2021, under the wing of veteran Principal Marsha Hirae, and has now assumed full responsibility.

“We are very excited to welcome Elton to our team. His wealth of experience, commitment to Christ, and educational leadership background will greatly benefit HBA’s students,” said Ron Shiira, President of Hawaii Baptist Academy.

For the past eight years Kinoshita has served as Principal at Lanai High and Elementary (K-12) School. Kinoshita also previously served as a teacher and Vice Principal at James Campbell High School where he led a career academy program. Prior to his 21 years of experience in education, Kinoshita was President of Living Stones Brew. He also worked as a banker at Liberty Bank and American Savings Bank.

Kinoshita is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a B.A. in Finance/History/Art History and holds a MEd in Educational Leadership from Chaminade University. He currently serves on the supervisory committee at Hawaii USA Credit Union and is an active member of Olivet Baptist Church.

Marsha Hirae '72, who is planning to retire at the end of 2022 said, “I will always treasure the time I spent at HBA as a student, teacher and principal. In just the short time I have known Elton, I can tell that he is a capable, compassionate, and responsive leader who really cares about our students and faculty. I am grateful that God brought him to HBA.”
