Senior Reanne Inafuku has won a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Inafuku, who has attended HBA since kindergarten, will use the funds towards her studies at Santa Clara University this fall.
“I’m honored to receive this award, and I thank God for all of His blessings as well as my parents for their constant love and support,” said Inafuku.
Inafuku is one of 7,500 scholarship winners in the National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP). To participate, students must take the PSAT and the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
In February, Inafuku was announced as a finalist for the program, along with her classmate, Emily White. Both Inafuku and White were among 15,000 students competing for scholarships in the final round.
Seniors Adam Hu, Lauren Uchimura and Kasen Wong were also recognized by the NMSP with a Letter of Commendation. While they did qualify for the scholarship program, they were among the top 50,000 students in this year’s program.
