Three sophomore students won first place at the Japan Wizards Competition that was held on Saturday, February 26. Jadynn Wong (Team captain), Torin Hayashi, and Jack Hong competed against teams from other public and private schools in the state. As the highest scoring team, these students earned a $1,000 scholarship and an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan!

The annual competition was hosted by the Japan-America Society of Hawaii. During competition, teams were quizzed on Japanese cultural trivia ranging from seasonal foods to regional geography. HBA's team was advised by Elena Yoo, Japanese Teacher and Chairperson for our World Languages Department.

Our winning students will have the opportunity to visit Japan once travel restrictions are lifted.
