Located on Hawaiʻi Baptist Academy’s Elementary Campus, our Early Learning Center at Nuʻuanu gives our youngest learners the opportunity to experience the HBA community from the very beginning.
Through a Christ-centered, nurturing environment, children learn through hands-on exploration, purposeful play, small-group instruction, and experiences across the Elementary Campus that help prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
At a Glance
Ages: 3 through 5 years old
Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (afterschool care included)
Classrooms: 2 age-based classrooms
3-Year-Old Class: Up to 12 students with 1 Lead Teacher and 1 Teacher Assistant
4–5-Year-Old Class: Up to 24 students with 1 Lead Teacher and 2–3 Teacher Assistants

Learning Through Doing
We believe children learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
Throughout the day, students explore Language Arts and Math through small-group instruction while developing social skills, fine motor skills, independence, and creativity through classroom centers, outdoor play, and hands-on experiences.
Our teachers recognize that every child develops differently. Students are met where they are, encouraged in their strengths, and challenged to continue learning and growing.
The Full HBA Experience
What makes our Nuʻuanu location especially unique is that ELC students are already part of the larger HBA Elementary Campus community.
Throughout the year, students participate in quarterly special classes taught across four areas:
Music: Exploring instruments, movement, singing, and worship
Art: Discovering different techniques, materials, colors, and creative expression
Physical Education: Developing coordination, movement, motor skills, and an early love for physical activity
STEM: Building curiosity through age-appropriate science, technology, engineering, and math experiences
Students also enjoy access to campus spaces such as the library, playgrounds, field, and cafeteria and participate in weekly chapel alongside the Elementary student body.
Being surrounded by older HBA students gives our youngest learners a glimpse of what comes next while allowing them to grow within the HBA community from the very beginning
What Makes Our Program Special
Faith is part of every day. Students participate in daily Faith Formation, prayer, worship, and weekly chapel while learning about God’s Word and how they can demonstrate Christ’s love to others.
We nurture the whole child. Children are supported academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually in a caring environment where they are known and loved.
Every child is encouraged to grow. Teachers recognize each child’s unique stage of development, meet them where they are, and encourage them to take their next steps with confidence.
They are part of HBA from the start. From special classes and chapel to shared campus spaces and interactions with older students, Nuʻuanu ELC students experience what it means to be part of the HBA ʻohana.
Admissions Process
Applications are due on or before October 1 to be considered for the first round of applicants. Applications for the 2027-2028 school year are now being accepted. Please visit the Ravenna hub to learn more.
