Application Instructions for Grades 7-9
Hawaii Baptist Academy welcomes you as a candidate for admission. Applications for the 2020-21 school year will be accepted beginning September 1, 2019. The non-refundable application fee is $100 and the deadline to apply is January 15, 2020. All supporting documents and test results should be received by February 10, 2020 for first-round considerations.
*Applicants to 9th grade, please note: All 9th graders enroll in Geometry. If students have not successfully completed Algebra 1 by the end of their 8th grade year, they will be required to attend summer school for Algebra 1A. These students will be enrolled in Algebra 1B concurrently with Geometry in 9th grade. Achievement tests will be administered according to the student’s current math class.
Step 1: Complete the application and submit all documents through Ravenna
- Submit birth certificate
- Submit previous year's report card and current quarter 1 and quarter 2 report cards
- Submit two (2) Teacher Reference Reports (current English and math teachers)
- Submit one (1) Extracurricular Reference Report
Step 2: Take the SSAT by January 2020 (HBA code: 3760)
Step 3: Attend scheduled parent/student interview
Step 4: Attend scheduled admissions testing appointment
We request an interview with the student and the parents. Interviews will be scheduled after receiving your application for admission. On this day, a general orientation and tour of the campus will also be conducted to familiarize you with HBA. Interviews are not required for neighbor island and mainland applicants.
After all data are evaluated, notification of the admission decision will be made. Applicants will be notified of decisions by mail on or before March 25, 2020. All applicants for grades 7-9 who have been offered admission must reply no later than April 15, 2020. Upon acceptance, a $400 deposit is required. Admission notification continues as long as there are vacancies. Students on the Wait List will be notified when an opening occurs.
