The International Program at Hawaii Baptist Academy is selective. Admissions standards are high, and only fully qualified students who are proficient in English will be accepted into the program.
The preferred entry level for international students is grade 9. Special consideration may be given to students entering grades 10 and 11 who are attending international or American schools and meet all admissions requirements. A credit review is required before students can apply for grades 10 and 11. Hawaii Baptist Academy does not accept international students entering grade 12.
International students are required to purchase the medical insurance policy that has been approved and selected by Hawaii Baptist Academy, in order to protect the student in the case of illness or injury.

Step 1: Explore Hawaii Baptist Academy’s page through Ravenna.
Step 2: Admissions will contact you to complete an academic review and interview via webcam to determine fluency in English.
Step 3: Local legal guardians must also complete an interview, if applicable.
IMPORTANT: Please do not submit your application online until the above steps are completed. Doing so may result in the loss of your non-refundable application fee. Admissions must first verify that your student qualifies for our program before an application will be accepted.
Step 4: Complete the application and submit all documents through Ravenna.
- Submit birth certificate
- Submit previous year’s report card and current semester 1 report card
- Submit two (2) Teacher Reference Reports (current English & Math teachers)
- Submit one (1) Extracurricular Reference Report
Step 5: Take the SSAT by January, 2019 (HBA code: 3760). The iTEP-SLATE-Plus test and the TOELF will be accepted in lieu of the SSAT if the applicant is unable to register for the SSAT at a test center within a two-hour travel time.
Step 6: Submit Notice of Legal Guardianship Form, if applicable
Once all records, forms, testing, and interview are completed, the International Admissions Committee will review the information and notification of the admission decision will be made. If the applicant has been offered admission, the Admissions Office will notify the parent(s)/agent with an acceptance offer along with the Tuition and Fee Schedule. The Acceptance Response Form and $400 USD non-enrollment deposit must be received before the I-20 will be issued. If applicable, a transfer I-20 request will be arranged with the student’s current school.
Hawaii Baptist Academy is able to issue the I-20 form after all steps of the admissions process are complete and your student has been accepted. Parent(s) will need to pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and make an appointment for an interview with the American Embassy in their country. The Embassy will issue the F-1 Visa. Allow five to seven weeks to complete the process.
Enrollment is not official until the following documentation, fees, and required forms are received.
- A signed Student Enrollment Contract
- Non-refundable $2,000 USD Enrollment Contract Deposit must be received with the Enrollment Contract and will be applied to tuition upon enrollment.
- A copy of the F-1 Student Visa
The following MUST be completed before the first day of school:
- Official Physical Examination Form and immunization record, including current Tuberculosis (TB) clearance. See Hawaii Vaccine and Immunization Record Requirements and Hawaii TB clearance requirements for students. Please note that the physical exam and TB clearance must be completed within one year before entrance into a school in Hawaii and must be performed by a U.S. licensed Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), or Physician’s Assistance (PA).
- International students must purchase the medical insurance policy that has been selected and approved by Hawaii Baptist Academy. The current cost of this policy is $176 per month.
Upon the student’s enrollment, parents are obligated to pay the full tuition and fees for the full academic year. No portion of tuition or fees or charges paid or outstanding will be refunded or cancelled in the event of a student’s absence, withdrawal or dismissal from Hawaii Baptist Academy. Your obligation may be cancelled by notifying Hawaii Baptist Academy of your child’s withdrawal in writing by June 25 prior to the beginning of the enrolling school year. Cancellation of your enrollment will be subject to forfeiture of your $2000 enrollment deposit.
All tuition and fees are in U.S. currency. Tuition and fees are due to Hawaii Baptist Academy by July 5 of the enrolling year. Tuition for school year 2017-2018 is $20,300. The 2018-2019 tuition will be determined by February 2018.
In grades 9 to 11, the following fees are collected from all students: Comprehensive Fee, Book and Course Fee, Technology Fee, and Class Dues, which range from a total of $700 to $1,000. International students are also required to purchase the medical insurance policy that has been selected and approved by Hawaii Baptist Academy. The current cost of this policy is $176 per month.
Private homestay agencies interviewed by Hawaii Baptist Academy will help connect international, or other students interested, to host families. Admissions will contact you shortly thereafter to conduct an academic review and interview.

Once Admissions has completed and approved the initial academic review and interview, you will be authorized to complete the application process through Ravenna.
