Aaron Kumura

Founded in 2013 by Class of 1989 graduate Aaron Kumura, Aloha Cones is a locally loved Honolulu eatery known for its creative take on sushi, poke, and island-style street fare. As a sushi chef, Aaron opened Aloha Cones with its original signature concept—poke bowls served in shaved ice flower cones. The restaurant has since grown into a popular Kalihi destination for sushi, poke bowls, salads, sushi cakes, and catering platters. The business emphasizes fresh, never-frozen seafood and a menu that blends quality ingredients with a fun, visually distinctive presentation. 

Winner of “The Best Poke Bowl” in Honolulu Magazine’s Best of Honolulu 2016: Food edition, Aloha Cones continues to honor Aaron’s vision and legacy following his passing in 2019, carrying forward his commitment to quality, creativity, and aloha spirit in every dish. Having opened a second location in Denver, Colorado in 2024, Aloha Cones brings Hawaii’s standard for fresh, flavorful poke bowls to the mainland, showcasing the quality, creativity, and flavors of Hawaii to a nationwide audience.
