Uehara Ohana

As part of our HBA alumni ʻohana, Chris Uehara ’02 and his wife, Erin, have built their lives around faith, family, community, and meaningful connection. Together, they are the owners of Choco le’a, an award-winning gourmet chocolate company founded in 2012 with a mission to bring peace to our world, one chocolate at a time.

Born and raised in Hawaiʻi, Erin never imagined she would one day own a chocolate business. Her dream was simply to make the world a better place by investing in relationships and connecting with people. Through a step of faith and the discovery of a long-lost family member, she and Chris were introduced to the art of chocolate-making—a journey that would eventually become a shared family calling.

Today, the Ueharas continue to grow both their business and their impact within the community while raising their two children, Conner and Aubrey, an incoming 6th grader at HBA. In addition to serving as the company’s CCO (Chocolate Connections Officer), Erin is also an author, blogger, motivational speaker, and active volunteer who is affectionately known as “your chocolate friend.”
