Deren Oshiro ‘86
Deren Oshiro, a graduate from the Class of 1986 at Hawaii Baptist Academy, is a highly accomplished individual in athletic administration. He has held leadership roles in various organizations, including the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) and the Hawaii Interscholastic Athletic Directors Association (HIADA). Deren has made significant contributions to the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) and the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH). Since 2000, he has served as the Director of Athletics at Hawaii Baptist Academy, overseeing the growth of sports teams and student participation. Deren's dedication has been recognized, as Hawaii Baptist Academy became the first school in Hawaii to receive the NATA Safe Sports School Award.
Deren's remarkable contributions and dedication to athletic administration have left a lasting impact on various organizations and the Hawaii Baptist Academy community. His commitment to the betterment of sports programs and the well-being of student athletes is truly commendable.
Paige (Oshiro) Su ‘17
After graduating from HBA in 2017, Paige (Oshiro) Su began working as an assistant for her mother, Wendy Oshiro. Paige earned her NMLS license in 2018, becoming one of the youngest reverse mortgage specialists in the nation. She earned her B.A. in Marketing and Management from the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa in 2020. She enjoys working alongside her mother, serving local seniors and their families.
In 2022, Paige married Ryan Su ('17), a longtime friend and classmate. Together they run Poshiki, Paige's watercolor art business; Ryan handles the finances while Paige focuses on the creative side. In their free time, they enjoy visiting the art museum, cooking and eating good food, and spending time with family.
Peyton Oshiro ‘19
Peyton Oshiro, a distinguished graduate from the Class of 2019 at Hawaii Baptist Academy, excelled in academics and sports during his time at the school. As an active member of the Concert Choir and SOL program, he showcased his talents and leadership skills. Peyton's four-year commitment to Varsity Cross Country led to the team's consecutive State DII Championship titles in 2018 and 2019. He also participated in Track and Field, played basketball, and graduated with highest honors. Continuing his education at Chaminade University, Peyton majored in Business Administration with a minor in marketing, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He currently serves as an administrative assistant/communications specialist at the Hawaii Baptist Foundation, playing a vital role in supporting HBA as their largest client.
