Operating Guidelines

Following a modified State’s Reopening Strategy and Impact Levels, HBA’s response to reopening our campuses is as follows:

RECOVERY
Minimal Disruption 
 
  • New cases indicate sporadic activity 
  • Optimized capacity utilization for testing, hospitals, contact tracing

ACT WITH CARE
Minor Disruption 
 
  • New cases and/or clusters are manageable within system capacity 
  • Improved capacity utilization for testing, hospitals, contact tracing 

SAFER AT HOME
Moderate Disruption 
 
  • New cases are occurring, but trending downward 
  • Near maximum capacity for testing, hospital capacity and/or contact tracing 

STAY AT HOME
Major Disruption 
 
  • Cases surging and/or increasing 
  • Risk of insufficient testing, hospital capacity and/or contact tracing 

IN ALL IMPACT LEVELS LISTED ABOVE: 

For the health and safety of our HBA Community; students, faculty and staff 

  • Individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms are not allowed to be on campus. 
  • If you are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed, please contact our COVID hotline at COVID@hba.net,  call 808-564-0219 or complete the COVID Reporting Form to determine next steps. 
  • The school will strictly adhere to the requirement of a doctor’s note to return to school after a three-day absence. 

In the event someone in the HBA community has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus: 

  • HBA will immediately contact the Hawaii Department of Health to coordinate the next steps. 
  • Infected person(s) will remain in quarantine until they have been cleared by a physician to return to school. 
  • Contact tracing will begin in order to isolate the virus from the rest of the community. 
  • All faculty, staff, and families of students who may have come in contact with the infected person will be contacted. 
  • HBA will follow all HIPAA guidelines.

COMMUNITY: BETTER TOGETHER

Our community is stronger when we work together. We ask that our families join us in the shared responsibility of protecting our community. It is imperative that we remain diligent in following CDC and HDOH guidelines and all Hawaii Baptist Academy health and safety policies and procedures. As part of the HBA ohana, you commit to the following: 

  • Adhere to CDC and HDOH directives and HBA guidelines regarding any measures set to reduce the spread of COVID-19. (See HBA K–12 Health & Safety Guidance document) 
  • COVID-19 Exposure, Testing and Notification— If your child or someone in your household is exposed or tests positive for COVID-19, you must notify the Campus Nurse or Health Aide immediately. 
  • Stay Home if Sick—If your child is sick, you are expected to keep them home from school. 
  • Emergency Contacts—Ensure that your child’s emergency contact information is up to date via mybackpack. 
  • Medical Forms—All medical forms and information must be completed prior to the first day of school.
