Maila Gibson

Maila grew up between Missouri, O’ahu, Kaua’i, and Oregon. Her father is originally from Missouri and met her mother on O’ahu while stationed in the Army. Her parents divorced when she was 9 years old and Maila lived in 11 different homes before the age of 19. Little did she know, this would plant the seed for a career in real estate, but before that, she would pursue her passion for music.

Maila had her first paid singing gig at age 9 – a voice over for Meadow Gold Dairy. In the years that followed, Maila sang in local malls and talent shows. After high school, she recorded a full length album in Japan. One thing led to another and she was soon pursuing music full time. Maila won a Na Hoku Hanohano Award in 2011 with Ben Vegas (Ben & Maila), sang at Carnegie Hall with Grammy Award Nominees Ho’okena, and has sung with multi-platinum artists like Jim Brickman and Natalie Cole.

While Maila enjoyed a lot of success in music, she never took her eyes off the real estate market. She obtained her real estate license in 2007 and sold for Marriott Vacation Club at Ko ‘Olina. In 2017, she activated her license full time. Since then, she has been nominated twice for the Aloha ‘Aina Award, has a Senior Real Estate Specialist Designation, worked on the Hawaiian Homes sales team, and has helped in many facets of real estate including 1031 exchange, foreclosure, bankruptcy, renovation, first time homebuyers, etc. from the North Shore to Waikiki. Maila has also taught first time home buying seminars and has been on Hawaii News Now sharing her knowledge of the Hawaii real estate market. When asked what makes her different, Maila says she loves using her creative, entertainer spirit to market properties and loves educating, empowering, and connecting with people through social media.

In her downtime, Maila enjoys living it up in Kakaako with her husband and 2 English cocker spaniels.
