Carl Kinoshita

Distinguished Service to God (2014)

Carl Kinoshita grew up on Lanai and graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute. He came to the Lord at Nuuanu Baptist Church while a student at the University of Hawaii, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He served two years at Hickam Air Force Base as an ROTC commissioned officer before enrolling at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary for his divinity degree.

Carl pastored the First Baptist Church of Haleiwa, 1961-68. He served the next two years as chaplain with the Army National Guard in Vietnam. Upon his return, he was called to pastor the First Baptist Church of Wahiawa where he ministered until 1992, when he became Director of Evangelism for the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention. Since retiring in 1996, he has assisted six different churches as interim pastor. Currently a member of Olivet Baptist Church, he remains active in ministry and teaches a Sunday School class of new Christians.

Carl has served two terms on the HBA Board of Directors and is a member of The Aloha Council. He has established the Carl and Hatsue Kinoshita Scholarship Endowment Fund at HBA.
