Dr. Darold Morgan

A longtime supporter of HBA, Dr. Darold Morgan was a founding member of the Mainland Advisory Council (MAC) in 1977 and served as MAC Chair from 1998 -2001. Dr. Morgan is an avid supporter of HBA and is instrumental in recruiting many new members for MAC.

Called to preach at the age of 16, he graduated from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth where he received his masters and doctorate degrees in theology. He served as a pastor for over 20 years until 1970 when he became the president of the Southern Baptist Convention Annuity Board before retiring in 1990 as president emeritus. During his early trips to Hawaii in the 1970s, he helped HBA begin a retirement benefits program, improving the recruitment and retention of qualified faculty.

His late wife, Dr. Elizabeth Morgan, passed away on October 16, 2015. They have two sons, Marshall and Tim, and a daughter, Julie Reynolds. Marshall and Julie are MAC members. At the age of 94, Dr. Morgan resides in Dallas, Texas, and continues to teach Sunday school at First Baptist Richardson where he has been a member since 1975.

Being a part of the MAC has simply been one of the major spiritual challenges of my life, and I just wish I had the steam and energy to get back in it again. The byproducts of my time with MAC has been an amazing reservoir of friendships on the islands, which has been an immeasurable blessing to me personally.
