Started by Southern Baptist missionaries with 36 students in 1949, Hawaii Baptist Academy today serves more than 1,000 students in grades K–12. One of the leading independent schools in the state, HBA remains committed to academic excellence and to its evangelical mission. Dear MAC Friends,
As Mainland Advisory Council (MAC) chair I invite you, your families, and friends to attend our 44th MAC Week, February 18–21, 2020. My wife, Vicky, and I have fallen in love with HBA and are looking forward to another opportunity to meet with President Ron Shiira, the faculty, and staff to learn what’s new at HBA and how we can be a part of it. Most of all we look forward to meeting with the students—elementary, middle and high school. Seeing their enthusiasm in worship as well as academics provides an extra lift in the winter months. It also provides us with the up close and personal experience that makes us want to support such a vital ministry in God’s Kingdom. I look forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones. So make your plans now to come on out this February.

Guest Devotional Speaker: Chris Martin
After serving in Louisiana and Florida, Chris Martin pastored Lahaina Baptist Church on Maui for eight years.
In 2014, he and his family relocated to Oahu so he could serve as the executive director of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention. As the director, Chris loves to interact with the churches. It is his desire to see all of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist churches become leaders in God’s kingdom work throughout the Pacific and Asia.
Chris received his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the World Christian Studies program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the executive leadership program at Gateway Seminary.
Chris and his wife, Wendy, have two children, Taylor (Paul) and Zachary (Paige), and two granddaughters, Meleana and Hazel.
