JOB/POSITION TITLE: Academic Resource Teacher
OFFICE/CAMPUS: Bento Elementary Campus
REPORTS TO: Principal
STATUS: Part Time, 10 month (exempt)

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Implement targeted instruction to systematically provide identified students with the additional time and support needed to learn at high levels. This includes remedial, reinforcement, and enrichment experiences for individual and small groups of students in grades K - 6.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and work with classroom teachers, peer Academic Resources Teacher, principal and/or guidance counselor to determine academic needs of students.
  • Plan and implement lessons to meet students’ needs.
  • Monitor and track progress of students. Report progress to classroom teachers, counselor and principal
  • Share the love and faith in Jesus Christ with students.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of working with children of various grade levels, listening skills, organizational skills. Knowledge of curriculum in various grade levels.
  • Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university, preferably in elementary education. Susan Barton or Orton Gillingham training preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years teaching experience with elementary students. Experience working with remedial and gifted students.

High School Math Teacher

Athletic Trainer

JOB/POSITION TITLE: Athletic Trainer

STATUS: 12 month (exempt)

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To work with individuals engaged in physical activity in the prevention of injuries and illnesses, the recognition, evaluation and immediate care of injuries and illnesses, the rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries and illnesses, and the administration of this health care system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide medical coverage for athletic events scheduled on the HBA campus in which HBA athletes or teams are competing in volleyball, basketball, tennis, softball, baseball, cheerleading, cross country, soccer and weightlifting.
  • Provide medical coverage for athletic events scheduled at off-campus when possible.
  • Provide pre-event preparation and post-event treatment of athletes.
  • Provide injury evaluation and injury rehabilitation of athletes.
  • Provide consultation and therapy for athletes as well as consultation for parents of athletes.
  • Order and maintain inventory of supplies for the training room.
  • Maintain athletic injury records for all sports.
  • Prepare and distribute injury reports to athletic director and school nurse as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute team injury reports to coaches and athletic director as needed.
  • Maintain equipment issue list for all training room equipment (ankle braces, etc.) and handle billing and record maintenance.
  • Maintain athletic participation and coaches information forms.
  • Remain current with all requirements as mandated by the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) Board of Certification and State of Hawaii Athletic Training Registration Act.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Spiritual: Must have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his/her life and demonstrate a living relationship with Jesus Christ as described in “The Baptist Faith and Message”, the tenets of the Southern Baptist denomination.
  • Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of school policies pertaining to student-athletes, medical care, facilities use, and other aspects of athletics. Must be current with all of the advances in treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of injuries. Strong communication and organization skills. Understands the role of administration. Good telephone customer service skills. Ability to work with a variety of people.
  • Education/Training: National Athletic Training Association (NATA) certification. BA degree preferably in Physical/Health Education. First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Experience: Coaching or other work with youth or athletic administration preferred, but not necessary.

After School Enrichment Program Leader

Job/Position Title: ASEP Program Leader
Office/Campus: After School Enrichment Program
Reports to: ASEP Coordinator STATUS: 10 Months (Non-Exempt)

Primary Purpose
To provide a conducive and safe environment of child care for HBA elementary students during post school hours and holiday and summer periods.

Essential Duties/Functions:

  • Plans, develops and implements various learning and play activities for assigned group of children.
  • Assist students with homework problems.
  • Supervise the activity of assigned children.
  • Discipline children as necessary, using appropriate methods.
  • Direct the efforts of the assigned junior leader or aide.
  • Prepare and/or pick up snacks for assigned group.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist in daily clean up.

Other Duties/Functions:

  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Equipment Use: Sport and playground equipment, two-way radio, and first-aid kit.
  • Work Hours: 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. Other hours as needed during intersession and summer breaks.
  • Mental Demands: Must be alert and aware of children’s safety, decision making analytical and critical thinking ability, attention to detail.
  • Physical Demands: Working in the sun, monitoring the activity of numerous children at play.

Qualifications/Requirements:
