Christian Ministries
At HBA, education is not complete unless students are spiritually prepared. At each campus, the Christian Ministries Staff hosts weekly chapels, Bible studies, student-led discipleship groups, and an annual Christian Emphasis Week. At all of these activities, students have an opportunity to worship God and learn more about Him.
At the middle school and high school, the staff hosts two-day grade level camps at the Pu’u Kahea Conference Center in Waianae. During these camps, students develop close relationships with their classmates, teachers, and their student leaders. It is also a time where students can ask questions about faith.
Students also have on- and off-campus ministry opportunities coordinated by the Christian Ministries director and the elementary campus Christian Ministries Coordinator, including Operation Christmas Child and Servant Group.
Ho'omana
“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord,” Psalm 134:2.
“I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands," Psalm 62:4.
Ho’omana, which means “praise and worship,” is a ministry that provides students the opportunity to learn interpretive sign language to worship God and express their love for Jesus. Under the direction of Dayna Nakamura, second grade teacher, the group meets once a week after school to rehearse. They perform throughout the school year at chapel, MAC Week and at the school’s annual Fun Fair. Students in grades three through six are invited to participate.
Jam 4 Jesus
Jam 4 Jesus is an extra-curricular praise and worship band, for students in grades kindergarten through six. They perform at various venues, and have special performances during chapels. The group is directed by Rhona Halmos.
